2013 MOST ANTICIPATED GADGETS

The year 2012 saw quite a few really major events. What with the mass hysteria over the end of the world, almost every launch was equally (if not more dramatic) than the anticipation of the apocalypse. The launch of the iPhone5, the Samsung Galaxy SIII, the war of the patents and much much more, truly made it a year full of surprises, disappointments, and thrill.And now, 2013 shyly makes an entry. Aaah, a new year a new beginning, some new year resolutions (don’t even try asking how many megapixels now :p ) and of course, a to-do list for the year ! Here’s a list of 2013 most anticipated gadgets !

• iPad Mini- Retina/ iPad 5 (Expected arrival: Mid 2013)

Woohoo Apple blah blah blah ! Inspite of all my protestations about Apple, the one thing which makes them stand out is how the WORLD over, every one wants to possess something Apple. Even if it implies that a device they bought 6 months ago is going to be rendered obsolete! According to BGR (WHATS BGR), Apple is close to putting the iPad Mini- Retina into production and has even pushed up its launch date. All other details remain unknown.
The specifications of the iPhone5s and those of the iPad mini Retina are almost the same.

• Google Glasses (Expected arrival: Late 2013)

Google’s “wearable computing system” continues to rack up numerous Best Invention of 2012 awards and has Star Trek fanatics uber-hyped over its augmented reality capabilities.  The most promising include video chatting, accessible maps, Internet viewing, as well as photo capture and sharing. At the moment, a developer edition of the Google Glass carries a $1,500 price tag and 2013 release window. There’s no sign of when we’ll see an actual standard edition. There’s always 2014, right?

• XBox 720/ PS 4 (Expected arrival: Late 2013)

Upgraded to its Kinect technology, Xbox Live interface, and graphics hardware -AMD Radeon HD 8000M GPU,the leaked specs seem pretty darn authentic and will surely have gaming geeks drooling ! The product is likely to be launched around late 2013.
They’re not saying much about the next console, but speculation is rampant. Industry analyst Michael Pachter doubts Sony wants to launch after Microsoft again, which supports the theory of a 2013 launch for Sony’s next console. If the PlayStation 2 is any indication, the PlayStation 3 will likely remain a hit for the company for years after their new console is released.

• HTC M7 (Expected arrival: April 2013)

We could be looking at a 4.7-inch 1080p display, 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon CPU, 13MP camera, and 2GB of RAM housed in an aluminum unibody design. There’s also talk of HTC bringing over a flexible screen. If the M7 (potentially the biggest competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S IV) is anything like the One X+ or DNA, we’re sold.

• iPhone 5S (Rumoured Release Date: June 2013)

iPhone5S or the iPhone6or whatever you may call it ! The fact remains that Apple will launch another iPhone come what may. According to Business Insider,  the device will feature a new Super HD camera/screen, a better battery, NFC and probably even a new retina+ display.

• SAMSUNG GALAXY S IV (Expected arrival: April 2013)

It’s the grand daddy of ALL Android phones! After the tremendous success of the Samsung Galaxy S, SII and SIII last year, they’re back again to woo us with a swanky new Samsung Galaxy SIV! Unlike the Galaxy SIII, the next-gen Galaxy should flaunt the latest specs including a 2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 13MP rear camera. But all eyes are on the unveiling of Samsung’s 5.5-inch flexible display (which may or may not happen this year). But then, it’s Samsung and its certainly one of  2013 most anticipated gadgets .

• Sony C650X Odin (Rumored Release Date: Summer 2013)

The device is rumored to feature a 5-inch 1080p screen, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset, and 2GB of RAM. Granted, the Xperia series continues to struggle on the domestic front, but the Odin has the potential to keep Sony in the Android hunt.

• BlackBerry 10 (Expected Arrival: January 2013)

Research in Motion (RIM), the maker of the BlackBerry smartphone, plans to unveil the new BlackBerry 10 operating system in January. That is (hopefully) good news for a company that recently sacked hundreds of employees and lost contracts with the US government over security and reliability issues with RIM products.

• Amazon Phone (Expected arrival: end 2013)

Amazon answered the tablet call with its fleet of Kindle Fires, and now, it’s looking at the smartphone world. In line with their Kindle philosophy, Amazon’s phone will likely be heavy on software integration and light on cutting edge hardware. Amazon users will want to stay in their ecosystem of Amazon’s Appstore, Amazon MP3, Amazon Cloud Player and Kindle books.

• Smartphones that bend (Expected arrival: end 2013)

When fashion and technology meet, good things can happen. Well, atleast sometimes.This might be the case with bendy screen smartphones.  Samsung has already shown its OLED display technology, which means this tech could be in our hands – or wrapped around our wrists – in 2013. It’s likely to be called the Galaxy Skin and will feature everything you expect in a smartphone – camera, high-res screen and a decent processor.
